Position Summary

As a Vice President of Engineering/Estimating, you will report directly to the organization’s President. Your role will include (but not be limited to) serving as the primary link, and the main point of contact between Active Design & Build, Project Teams, the client, vendors, and trade partners for your assigned projects and the day-to-day operation of the organization. Your lateral interface will be with the Sr. Project Managers and the financial team. Therefore, you must have excellent communication, management, customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills and a strong focus on safety. This position is an onsite position located at 1814 18th Rd, Central City, NE 68826

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Team Building

  • Build and establish an engineering team within the ISI organization that keeps ISI at the forefront of the industry and responds to        the emerging renewable energy market.

  • Build and establish an engineering and estimating team that positions ISI as a major player in the renewable energy sector.

Essential Duties

  • Display the highest professionalism, ethics, and business acumen when representing ISI.

  • Maintain superior customer relationships.

  • Generation of all required engineering and cost estimates to support bid proposals generated by the Development team for potential projects.

  • Maintain and monitor all projects in the engineering and estimating phase with project timelines to assure expediency.

  • Create estimates and project budgets with input from the Sr. Project Managers and the Projects Controller.

  • Assist with engineering and technical information for all contracts and subcontracts issued by the Contracts Administrator.

  • Work with the Development Team, Sr. Project Managers and Projects Coordinator for project schedules of conceptual projects and projects that have been awarded.

  • Establish and maintain Quality Assurance standards that are executed in the field.

Project Development 

  • Work with the Development Team, giving input in creating and submitting proposals for customers in a timely fashion. All written proposals that go to customers will come directly from the team of the Development Team to the customer with input from the VP of Engineering/Estimating.

  • Assist by giving input for creating proformas, cash flows, and schedules for conceptual projects.

  • Attend meetings with high-end customers and stakeholders when necessary.

  • Provide input to the Development Team for the obtaining of all permits associated with the project that falls into project responsibility.

Pre-Construction 

  • When a project is awarded, attend a preconstruction meeting with the Development Team and Construction Operations for the knowledge transfer of all information acquired during the project negotiations.

  • Assist other departments in developing timelines and the project schedule, identify the critical path, and set benchmarks in line with the project development proposals and discussions with key stakeholders.

Construction & Building

  • Monitor project progress and support construction activities with any engineering or estimate needs.

Punch/Close Out

  • Monitor project progress and periodic reviews with customers to monitor satisfaction.

  • Attend a Lessons Learned meeting for each project.

Warranty 

  • Assist in Knowledge Transfer of all project deliverables related to Warranty and O&M to the Warranty/O&M Manager.

  • Assist with any engineering or technical needs of the O&M Department.

Competencies

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills (Bilingual is a plus), with an innate focus on customer service and a high level of professionalism.

  • Advanced proficiency in the use of software applications, specifically Smart Sheets, CAD, Project Management & Design Software, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. Working knowledge with the aptitude to understand modeling software such as PVSyst, Helioscope, and PVWatts.

  • Professional experience or knowledge of all stages of construction.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a desire to learn new skills, be challenged, and demonstrate growth potential.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize and adhere to tight deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail with a track record of accuracy.

  • Willingness to remain flexible and adapt to change as we continue to grow as a company.

Experience

  • Knowledge of business-to-business practices and techniques.

Compensation

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.

Experience
